This Open Call is open to individual artists and companies, both national and international, with performances of any genre and in any language.

Applications are open exclusively to professional artists and professional companies operating in compliance with the legislation governing employment in the performing arts. At the time of the Festival, participants must meet all legal requirements necessary to perform professionally, either through INPS (formerly ENPALS) certification or under the contractual arrangements required by the legislation in force in their country of residence.

Each artist or company may submit only one application. Multiple applications submitted by the same applicant will result in the exclusion of all proposals.

Only fully developed performances are eligible. Works in progress, studies and amateur productions will not be considered.

In order to preserve the uniqueness of the Festival programme, selected performances may not be presented in any municipality within the Metropolitan City of Turin between 1 January 2027 and the opening of the Torino Fringe Festival 2027.

CORE

Performances of any genre and artistic language conceived for indoor venues and available for six consecutive performances during the Festival are eligible.

Selected productions will be scheduled from Tuesday to Sunday during one of the following Festival weeks:

• 18–23 May 2027
• 25–30 May 2027

Performance times will be scheduled between 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm.

The Festival week, performance schedule and assigned venue will be determined by the Artistic Direction and Festival organisation and communicated to the selected companies. These assignments are made at the sole discretion of the Festival.

SPECIAL

This section is dedicated to projects which, due to their format, duration, mode of presentation or artistic and production characteristics, fall outside the CORE programme.

Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:

• Outdoor, site-responsive or urban performances;
• Site-specific projects;
• Promenade or itinerant performances;
• Concerts and live music performances;
• Performative installations.

Projects selected for the SPECIAL section may be scheduled for one to three performances during the Festival, under conditions determined by the Festival organisation.

The Artistic Direction reserves the right to evaluate each proposal and determine the most appropriate format and placement within the Festival programme, taking into account the characteristics of each project and the organisational requirements of the Festival.

CORE

Given the nature of the Torino Fringe Festival, which takes place primarily in unconventional and non-theatrical venues, submitted performances must have a simple technical rider compatible with the Festival’s venues.

At the application stage, each company or artist must submit a detailed technical rider, including all technical and staging requirements necessary for the presentation of the performance. Any technical requests not specified in the technical rider submitted with the application cannot be guaranteed by the Festival.

Once selected, each production will be assigned to a venue chosen by the Artistic Direction and the Technical Direction, who will define the final technical setup according to the characteristics of the venue and the requirements declared by the company.

For each selected production, the Festival provides:

• A basic sound and lighting setup appropriate to the assigned venue;
• Technical support from a Festival technician during the setup phase;
• A maximum of 4 hours, on the day before the first performance, for setup and rehearsal.

The time allowed for set-up and strike between consecutive performances must not exceed 30 minutes.

The Technical Direction reserves the right to request technical adaptations where required by the characteristics of the assigned venue.

Where the venue allows, companies may supplement the technical setup with their own equipment, subject to prior approval from the Festival’s Technical Direction and in compliance with all applicable safety regulations.

Each company or artist is required to provide their own technical manager throughout the Festival run, who will be responsible for setup, strike and the technical operation of the performance.

Should this not be possible, the Festival may, upon request and subject to availability, provide a dedicated technician. The related costs will be entirely borne by the company or artist.

SPECIAL

Given the diversity of projects eligible for the SPECIAL section, each application must include a detailed technical rider describing all technical, logistical and production requirements necessary for its presentation.

Selected applicants will subsequently be contacted by the Festival’s Technical Direction for a technical and organisational assessment to verify the project’s compatibility with the proposed venue and to define production requirements, technical arrangements and presentation conditions.

Each company or artist must provide their own technical manager during setup, strike and the presentation of the event or performance.

Should this not be possible, the Festival may, upon request and subject to availability, provide a dedicated technician. The related costs will be entirely borne by the company or artist.

The final inclusion of selected projects in the Festival programme will be subject to verification of their technical, logistical, and financial feasibility in relation to the available venues and resources.

Applications must be submitted exclusively via the online application form available at www.tofringe.it, no later than 11:59 pm (CEST) on 5 October 2026.

Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

To complete the application, applicants must provide a link to the full-length recording of the performance hosted on an online platform (such as YouTube, Vimeo or similar). Videos submitted through other means, as well as excerpts or incomplete recordings, will not be accepted.

The Artistic Direction reserves the right to consider projects that have not yet premiered. In such cases, applicants must submit a presentation video introducing both the company and the artistic project, using the same submission method described above. Additional online meetings with the Artistic Direction may also be requested.

A €15.00 application fee is required to cover administrative costs, payable according to the instructions provided in the online application form.

Each artist or company may submit only one application. Multiple applications will result in the exclusion of all submitted proposals.

Submission of an application implies full acceptance of these regulations and all the conditions contained herein.

Applications will be evaluated by the Artistic Direction on the basis of their artistic quality, consistency with the Festival’s curatorial vision, and their technical and organisational feasibility.

From 3 November 2026, selected artists and companies will be contacted to discuss the details of their participation, review the contractual conditions and confirm their participation within the deadlines established by the Festival.

All applicants, whether selected or not, will be notified of the outcome by email using the address provided in the application form.

Applicants are strongly advised to check their spam or junk mail folders regularly and to ensure that the email address provided remains active throughout the selection process.

CORE

Artists and companies selected for the CORE section will receive seventy per cent of the gross box office revenue generated by their performances, net of VAT and SIAE royalties.

The Torino Fringe Festival takes place primarily in unconventional venues with capacities generally ranging from 70 to 100 seats. The standard ticket price is €10.00.

The Festival reserves the right to offer discounted tickets, promotional offers, concession schemes and ticket packages in order to encourage audience attendance and maximise the visibility of the programme.

Complimentary tickets may also be allocated to programmers, accredited press, institutional partners and Festival guests, according to the Festival’s policies.

SPECIAL

Given the diversity of projects eligible for the SPECIAL section, financial and contractual conditions will be determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the nature of the project, the number of performances, technical and production requirements, and the format of the event.

Selection for the SPECIAL section does not automatically guarantee inclusion in the Festival programme and will be subject to the definition of specific agreements between the Festival and the selected artists or companies.

Selected artists and companies authorise the Torino Fringe Festival to produce, use and distribute photographs, audio and video recordings, excerpts of performances and any other promotional materials relating to their participation in the Festival, without territorial or time limitations and without any financial obligation on the part of the Festival.

The Torino Fringe Festival will promote the Festival and the selected performances through its online and offline communication channels, institutional communication tools, press office activities and partnerships established throughout the region.

In order to maximise the visibility of the programme and contribute to the success of the Festival, all selected artists and companies are required to actively promote their performances through their own communication channels, both in the lead-up to the Festival and throughout the Festival period.

The Festival may also invite artists and companies to participate in communication, promotional and networking activities involving audiences, accredited press and industry professionals.

I did not receive the confirmation email after registering and paying the application fee. What should I do?
Please check your Spam and Promotions folders, and make sure that your payment receipt is available in your personal account.

Are there any minimum or maximum duration requirements for the performance/project?
No. There are no minimum or maximum duration requirements.

Can I present fewer than six performances in the CORE section?
No. Performances selected for the CORE section must be available for six consecutive performances, as specified in the Open Call.

Can I submit one application for the CORE section and another for the SPECIAL section?
No. Only one application may be submitted. Multiple applications submitted by the same artist or company, even for different sections, will result in the exclusion of all proposals.

I’m not sure which section my project should be submitted to.
Please submit your application under the SPECIAL section. If the Artistic Direction considers your project suitable, you may be contacted to discuss the most appropriate programming format.

My performance requires longer set-up and strike times than those specified. Can I still apply?
Yes. Please describe your requirements in the Technical Rider section. If your project is shortlisted, you will be contacted by the Festival’s Technical Director.

I do not have a full-length video recording of my performance. Can I still apply?
No. Applications must include a full-length video recording of the performance.

My full-length video will only be available after the application deadline. Can I complete the application now and send the video later?
No. Applications must be complete, including the full-length video, by the deadline stated in the Open Call.

My performance has not premiered yet and I do not have a full-length video. Can I still apply?
Yes. As stated in the Open Call, you may submit a short presentation video introducing both your project and your company or artistic team, and select the Premiere option in the application form (premiering before the Festival opens).

Can I modify my application or submit additional materials after it has been submitted?
No. Once submitted, applications cannot be modified. Any additional material will only be requested from selected applicants. Documentation submitted separately will not be taken into consideration.

I am a professional artist/company but I do not yet meet the Italian certification requirements or I work through another organisation. Can I still apply?
Yes. If selected, you will be asked to provide the administrative details of the organisation that will be the contracting entity.

I am an amateur artist/company. Can I apply?
No. The Open Call is open exclusively to professional artists and professional companies.

Can I participate in the Literary Award without applying with a performance?
No. The Literary Award is reserved exclusively for performances selected for the Torino Fringe Festival.

Can I request a receipt for the application fee?
Yes. The receipt is available in your personal account and is also attached to the application confirmation email.

If an artist or director is involved in more than one production, can they participate with multiple applications?
Yes, provided that the applications are submitted by different companies or organisations.

I am an international artist and do not have Italian INPS (formerly ENPALS) certification. Can I still apply?
Yes. If selected, the Festival will provide all the necessary information regarding the relevant administrative requirements.

I am experiencing technical problems while completing the application form or uploading links and attachments. What should I do?
